Dutch/Swedish music producer and multi instrumentalist Enequist brings us his latest offering with the new single Opium accompanied by a music video directed and produced by Marija Đondović and Dominik Schefer. The artist explores the boundaries of electronic music, gliding between genres to continually offer something new. After working as a producer for multiple electronic and alternative acts in Berlin, with releases on Exploited, SPV & EMI, he’s recently moved to Amsterdam to focus on his solo project.
Opium is the lead track of the upcoming Nihilism EP and blends elements of techno, IDM and minimal electronic sounds. Focusing around a rhythmic core of flurrying percussion and punctuated by sprees of deep bass, Enequist’s sampled vocal work threads a dissonant semi-tonal cord throughout the piece to create a haunting and ominous atmosphere. The raw vocal offering, without the use of lyrics enhances the sense of primal abstraction with is perfectly mirrored in the visual pairing.
