Danish electronic pop duo mono mono, comprised of Karoline Elsig and Jakob Franck have developed a distinct sound which simultaneously offers deep ambient tones, melodic saxophone notes complimented with smooth high range vocals. In 2018 they released their debut EP Natural, which cemented of their sound of captivating beats, soothing vocals and seductive instrumentation to create a hypnotic audio experience.
The Scandinavian pair now bring us a reinterpretation of their previous work, with a double-sided remix release of their tracks You and Feel. The two tracks, with a deeply melancholic atmosphere, revolve around the topic of loneliness, are now set in a completely different context, with a more raw and club appropriated sound that can be heard on Frederik Meyer’s new remixes.
Commenting on their collaboration with Meyer, mono mono offer, “We thought it was interesting to leave the songs to a producer like Frederik Meyer, who could put some more power into the tracks that now stand in great contrast to the original. A contrast that fits quite well with the universe we are working on in our new productions, which becomes more up-tempo and abrupt than what we have done in the past.”
With his flip of Feel, Meyer delivers a high-octane energy to the slow burning original. A fierce, punching industrial beat leads the sound of this future bass rework which ignites mono mono’s track in a new setting. Stabbing synths sit intertwined with the rhythm as the vocals sway from the delicate ambient to the warped and pitched.
