Stockholm-based singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Adam Öhman aims to find beauty in the darkest places, offering his sonic interpretation under the Mountain Bird alias. Following his breakout Cubism EP, the artist was launched into the international spotlight for the first time in 2018 and now returns with the new EP DearBrainLetMeSleep, capped off by the emphatic single 5Years.
Adam explains how he arrived at writing such a song, offering, “I felt it had something youthful and cinematically beautiful about it… to realise that you love someone but the timing isn’t right is such a youthful ideal.”
His influences of artists such as SOHN, Mura Masa and James Blake ring through his sound of captivating and emotive indie electronica. The new tracks, with their deep soundscapes, alluring synth textures and brutally honest lyrics, mark the start of a new chapter for Mountain Bird.
Having been a long term sufferer of depression, insomnia, and low self-esteem, DearBrain LetMeSleep offers a detailed and honest insight into the life of someone battling with their mental health, “it’s a precise picture of how my brain sounded during that time of my life; no filters” says Adam.
