Leeds based music collective Kalyan have released their debut single ‘Soul Searching’. Demonstrating many musical influences combining Dub, Soul and Pop in a contemporary context. Written to communicate the story of life’s progression, ‘Soul Searching’ portrays the universal theme of finding oneself. With instantly memorable vocals alongside rich and vibrant horn lines, the feel good elements of this song enable it to be transferable to many generations of listeners.
Recorded and produced in Leeds by Kalyan’s two in house producers, the record exemplifies Kalyan’s DIY ethos, with the artwork having been commissioned from Leeds creative communities. There will also be a second version of ‘Soul Searching’ recorded in Chinese that is set for release later in 2015. The single is the first of a series of four tracks being self-released by the band.
Having started their summer with a sold out headline show at Brixton’s Hootanannys, Kalyan are making their debut festival appearance at One Love Festival in September and beginning their Autumn tour by supporting Portico at the Kalyan Presents take over at Beacons Metro Festival.
