Having topped the UK album charts for the 5th time in June with Drones, selling 73,000 units in its first week, Muse drummer Dominic Howard has confirmed that discussions about their follow-up album have taken place. Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Howard stated, ‘We’ve talked about it, yeah, but we haven’t really talked about when or where. But I just know we need to do something really, really different to anything we’ve done before.’
‘I think it’s time to kind of lose our minds a little bit more in the studio and delve into some new areas of music that we’re kind of not that used to or comfortable with. I think we should definitely do that and kinda go for it. Yeah, we’ve got small ideas about how we think we can evolve. That’s the key thing: evolving.’
The band is planning an ambitious world tour for 2016 in support of Drones. The spectacular live shows will include a ‘swarm of drones’ and ‘double-headed arrow’ stage.
Commenting on the band’s 7th album, frontman Matt Bellamy has said Drones is their best album, admitting ‘That’s not something I’ve been able to say for a while.’
Muse will play a handful of UK stadiums in April 2016.
