Australian synthwave duo This Week In The Universe is comprised of brothers Beau and Casey Golden. The pair are heavily influenced by 80s film soundtracks, 70s progressive rock and a passion for vintage synthesisers. Drawing inspiration from sci-fi movies and their childhood love of comic books, they bring us their latest spaced-out single Blockbuster, lifted from the self-titled debut album.
Blending retro-inspired pulsating synth work with shifting rhythms, intricate melodic progression and just a hint of progressive jazz flavour, Blockbuster is a uniquely charming instrumental playground. Accompanying the track is the stop motion music video, shot and directed by the brothers and their uncle Adam Barnard. The video features galactic style visuals, pieced together by over 5,200 individual images, offering the perfect pairing to the music. Check it out below.
