Field Day have announced the first artists to grace the stages in 2017 for their eleventh edition of the festival. The festival will be taking place in East London’s Victoria Park on June 3rd. Aphex Twin will headline the festival on the brand new second indoor main stage arena “The Barn” on Saturday night. The two hour set is a UK exclusive in the large hanger-like construction with a state of the art high-powered sound system and one of the most technologically advanced lighting rigs available. Also joining Aphex Twin with an exclusive London appearance, is Berlin’s Moderat and Nicolas Jaar.
One of the world’s leading producers Flying Lotus will also play the festival with his unrivalled cosmic creations. Performances from Death Grips and rising prodigy Mura Masa already make the lineup potentially one of the biggest next year.
For fans of the hit series Stranger Things, synth specialists S U R V I V E will be joining the lineup; along with DJ sets from the great Jon Hopkins, Midland, Nina Kraviz, Marcel Dettmann, Lena Willikens, Jon Jobse and plenty more.
Field Day has always pushed the boundaries, with its lineups standing out among other festivals and it looks like 2017 won’t be an exception.The festival hosts a wide variety of genres, with world music from icon King Sunny Ade and Omar Souleyman playing the London festival, there is something for everyone. Shoegaze champions Slowdive and psych wonders King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard will also join the lineup. Not to mention the likes of Whitney, Methel Ethel and Kevin Morby for a more chilled vibe.
This first lineup announcement leaves plenty of hope for what is to come in the forthcoming announcements, especially considering the acts of previous years which included PJ Harvey, Patti Smith and Pixies.
