FYEO is a collaboration between Viktor Persson and Jenny Bjorkqvist who met in Stockholm through shared friends in the Swedish music community. After sharing ideas with each other while still working on other music projects they started making music together as FYEO about a year ago. Based both in Brooklyn and Stockholm, they started recording music in Viktor’s studio in Brooklyn and borrowing spaces from friends when they were both in Stockholm together. As FYEO, they are inspired by a mix of artists and wanted to create a sound that is shaped by the music of Todd Terje and Nils Frahm, with a mix of modern day pop music.
The duo have just released the new single I Wanna Dance (Like You), a downtempo and ambient indie pop track demonstrating their songwriting and production craft. Delicate vocals float above the dreamy soundscape of the instrumentation creating an atmospheric track full of graceful charisma. The release is accompanied by a cinematic music video produced by Andreas Ohman, reflecting the slow burning nature of the sound.
Commenting on the single, FYEO have said, “The song is about those moments in your life when you think you have all the things you want, but you can’t seem to find peace and figure out that the thing holding you back is you. We tried to capture that feeling of wishing you could leave whatever that thing is that is blocking you behind, let go of your own issues.” Adding, “We wanted to create a song that made us feel something. For someone to listen to it and become emotionally in tune with the song, absorbed by the song. We wanted to create something that felt true, honest.”
