Formed in 2011 by 5 former band rivals, Apollo Junction have been reeling in the fans since the success of their first single ‘Begin’, which not only gained a substantial amount of airplay, but was also remixed by chart-topping Producer Mint Royale – very impressive! The band write and perform music covering various genres including electro, indie and guitar inspired songs.
The band’s new EP is due to be released at the end of June and features their quirky new single ‘Blood On Hands’ as well as three other tracks; ‘Woke Up’, ‘In Your Arms’ and ‘I Could Dance With You’. The fully loaded ‘Blood On Hands’ looks like it’s set to follow in the footsteps of the band’s previous single ‘If I Fell’ which debuted on Graham Norton’s Radio 2 Show, also gaining airplay on XFM and BBC Radio 6.
No two tracks on the EP are the same and you can go from the electrifying ‘Blood On Hands’ to the piano fuelled ballad ‘In Your Arms’. If you get the chance to catch the guys live over the summer then you’re definitely in for a treat as both the Friendly Fires style track ‘I Could Dance With You’ and ‘Woke Up’ are laced with a summer aura. It’s impossible to not be drawn in to the vibrance of ‘I Could Dance With You’ and you’ll find yourself singing along to “we can dance in Paris” almost instantly. With it’s alluring vocals and catchiness ‘Woke Up’ has superb potential to be a hit, I particularly like the way that the band build you up and down again as they use the drums in the best way possible, and lyrics such as “I need the word to spin a little slower” are positively charming.
The band are due to embark on a tour of the following festivals and venues this summer, spreading their infectious melodies around the UK:
- 27th June – Apollo Festival with The Inspiral Carpets, Space and many more (York)
- 12th July – Oakwell Festival with The Feeling, Dodgy and many more (Birstall)
- 26th September – Yorfest with The Pigeon Detectives and The Sunshine Underground (York)
- 17th October – The Stylus Leeds University
- 28th November – EdgarFest (Leicester)
